A week late again. Oy. I have had quite possibly the worst last two days ever, so bad that I have about zero energy to do anything, much less blog, but I’m trying not to get TOO far behind!
Yesterday, I experienced my very first hard drive failure. I have been hesitant to even say anything about it in hopes that I don’t jinx anything, but please just say a prayer that the data recovery company can help me recover the thousands of photos on it.
For my SAP clients, all of your photos are backed up in two other places, so I didn’t lose any of those…no worries on that, but I have not been diligent about backing up my personal photos anywhere else, and may have possibly just lost thousands of photos of H. I have most of them backed up or uploaded elsewhere until those from the last 3 months… so all of the photos from Halloween, Thanksgiving, and new Christmas traditions this year are currently in the hands of some data recovery specialists. I have literally been sick to my stomach over it since it happened yesterday. I just pray that it’s not so damaged that they can’t recover them. I had every intention of (finally) writing H’s 23 month update today or tomorrow, but it makes me sad to write one with no photos (or very few, I only have the ones from my iPhone)… but I’ll still try to get around to it and post the photos later if I’m lucky enough to get them back.
As if that wasn’t enough, I woke up this morning with a terrible stomach bug and have literally been (sorry, TMI) in the bathroom just about all day today, mostly just lying on the cool bathroom floor in the fetal position. I don’t know if I ate something bad yesterday or if it’s a virus, but I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I was just able to eat a piece of bread and keep down some water, so I am hopeful that the worst is over. Please say a prayer that no one else in my house gets it.
Enough complaining, I’ll get on with the weekly update.
Size of Baby A: Eggplant or cauliflower. He is about 15 inches long and 2 lbs! He has doubled in size from only four weeks ago.
Developments this week: His immune system is continuing to develop, as are his lungs which are still breathing amniotic fluid. His hearing is also progressing as the network of nerves to his ears matures. My “What to Expect” app says that if someone puts their head up to my belly, they may be able to hear the baby’s heartbeat. Also, his taste buds are very developed now, with more taste buds than he will ever have outside the womb, actually. Apparently whatever I eat, he tastes through the amniotic fluid, so if I eat something spicy, he will taste it!
Weight Gain So Far: 15 lbs, per my home scale. I will get the official count on Thursday at my 28 week appointment.
Cravings: I currently can’t even think about eating, so it’s hard for me to remember what I have been craving this week… japanese food, chinese food and pizza have been a few things that I have wanted this week, which are GREAT for the waist line I know. ;) And… still candy and/or anything sweet.
Symptoms: More heartburn and itchy skin. And the insomnia is back, I’ve had to resort to taking melatonin a couple of nights so that I can finally fall asleep. Once I fall asleep, I’m usually ok (other than getting up 3 or 4 times to pee), but I just can’t turn my brain off. I feel like a broken record as far as symptoms go!
Movement: Still a lot. He’s an active little thing…still especially at night and anytime I’m lying down.
What I Miss: Being able to bend over without a sharp pain in my stomach! Most of the time I forget and just bend straight over, and it is definitely not comfortable. Along those same lines, I’m missing being able to wrap presents without being extremely uncomfortable… I have had to resort to either standing up and wrapping them on the bed or table or only wrapping one or two at a time before taking a break. Pathetic, I know!
Things I am Thankful For: Christmastime, and finally being finished with our Christmas decorating! I love the way it makes our house feel so cozy. It’s hard to believe that this will likely be our last Christmas in this house and that next Christmas we will be a family of four!
What I’m looking forward to: A weekend at home this coming weekend, the Holly Springs Christmas parade and Holiday Express with the Baums and Kellers on Saturday, and Santa Train on Sunday with the Thomas family! So many fun Christmas activities coming up. Also H’s birthday party in 2 weeks! Eek!
Bump Growth: Still growing. I am currently in no state of picture-readiness, so I am going to skip the current belly photo for now… I may come back and add one tomorrow. ;) Because posts are boring without photos, here is one from Saturday night, us before the BDO Christmas party!
Next Doctor Appointment: This Thursday, December 12! Can’t wait to see little man on the ultrasound!
I am going to rest now on the couch while H is sleeping… here’s to a better tomorrow! ;)
