Hadley’s 10 Week Update
We are officially in the double digit weeks! Ahh! H is 10 weeks old today, and we celebrated by having a little play date with her BFF Lilly! It is such a BEAUTIFUL day today (80 degrees here!), so Sarah and Lilly came over and we went for a walk around the lake/pond in the neighborhood next to ours. It was (as always) so nice to get out of the house, and it was even better since it is so nice out! Sarah and I were just talking though, and we (for once) forgot to take a pic of the girls together… bad mothers! ;) We will be sure to take some next time. We also just had dinner delivered to us from a lady from church, so this is shaping up to be a wonderful day. :)
Week 10 has been another fun one; Little Miss continues to grow and is becoming more alert, happy and FUN with each passing day. I am l-o-v-i-n-g this age. Here are her stats for this week:
Weight/Length: I don’t have an official count, but she is weighing in at around 12.5 lbs and measuring around 22.5 inches. Growing like a weed… and some of her 3 month outfits are already starting to get a little snug (which is NOT good because she has yet to wear some of them!). I can also tell she’s gotten longer because I am almost to the point where I can no longer burp her up on my shoulder anymore. :( Sad!
Sleep: Last night, she slept for (a record) 10 hours. 10 hours for her 10 week birthday! I’ll take it. We have been attempting to put her down when she’s sleepy but still awake, and some nights have been more successful than others. A couple of times I have given her the paci once I put her down and she has sucked on it for just a minute, then spit it out and fallen asleep. While I don’t want her to be super dependent on the paci (and she still isn’t—she can take it or leave it most times), it sure makes things easier sometimes!
Feeding: After talking to Sarah today about how many ounces Lilly is eating, it makes me wish I knew how much H was getting each time…because I really have no idea. She is still eating every 2.5-3ish hours during the day, then I try to cluster feed (at least every 2 hours) in the evenings, which I’m convinced is why H sleeps so long—she goes to bed with a full tummy! She is still spitting up occasionally…which someone at church told me this weekend that they are convinced that babies who spit up are less colicky. Whether that’s true or not, I don’t know, but I know that we have been lucky that H is not colicky at all!
Developments: The girl LOVES to smile and giggle (not sure who loves it more—her or ME!). Mornings are her especially happy time…after she eats, we have play time and reading time, and she loves it. She loves to look at the books, and I read them in my silliest voices (hope there’s not a hidden camera somewhere in the nursery, ha!) and she just coos and laughs. She is also starting (a little bit) to bat her hands at the jungle animals hanging from her play mat…and she especially loves the ones that rattle. She also loves to be sung to or to listen to music, so I try to have some form of music playing most of the time. This week, I’ve noticed her really paying attention to the TV when American Idol is on, ha!
Firsts This Week: Hadley got to meet another new friend, Hayden Brackett, who is just two days older than her, this weekend! Hayden is the daughter of one of my best friends growing up (and next door neighbor at the lake), Cody, and his wife, Tara. I am SO excited that these girls will get to grow up together at the lake like Cody, his sister Courtney, Bekah and I did…I am already picturing them running around, swimming, skiing, tubing etc. together! We attempted a photo op of the two of them together, but it is difficult to get two 2 month olds to cooperate:

I just know that Hayden and Hadley will be great friends!
Nicknames: Little Miss, Haddles, Jenks or Jenkins, Chunkster or Chunks, H, and Sweet Pea, Sweet Cheeks, Beautiful, Hadley McGee, etc. etc. etc.!
What I’m Thankful For: Going through all this with my bestie, Sarah. If y’all could see my phone and our text conversations…you would really laugh. Pretty much all day, every day, we are asking each other “is this normal?” or “am I a bad mother if…?” or “what do you do when…?”, etc. And I am thankful that we are both now comfortable and mobile enough to have (at least) weekly play dates (for the girls and us, haha)!
What I’m Looking Forward To: Seeing Jon’s family in Concord this weekend! And Hadley’s baptism, which has been officially scheduled for March 25.
Next Pediatrician Appointment: May 3rd for her 4 month appointment.
Here’s your weekly fix of our sweet girl!

Just one day til the weekend, hooray!
