Greetings, friends! Hope everyone is having a fantastic week. I have been meaning to do this Memorial Day post for weeks…but I have just now finally caught up on editing for SAP and finally went through the
million photos I took while we were at the lake for Memorial Day weekend. Warning: this is about to be complete photo overload. We had a really fun weekend, so I had a hard time choosing which ones to post. Sorry ‘bout it. ;)
We got to the lake late Friday afternoon, and hung out outside for a while. The light was good and H was looking cute so I snapped some pics of her playing and then some in Pop’s Duke chair (no, we haven’t converted, we are still Wolfpackers, no worries).
I love the next few pics. She can be quite angelic when she wants to be. ;)
Bath time is always one of her favorite times of the day.
Saturday was a PERFECT day, not too miserably hot but just right. We took advantage and headed straight out to the pier right after we finished breakfast (which, let’s be honest, was around 11 a.m. since H slept til after 10). We set up a little “pool” for her, and the water was pretty freezing, so she didn’t much want to sit in it, but she did enjoy throwing her toys in it.
"Hat!". We actually had about a 30 minute ordeal at the start of the day involving getting H to keep the hat on. She pitched quite the fit but eventually conceded when she realized we weren’t going to give in. (Parenting triumph!)
Somehow that is all the photos I took on Saturday. So fast forward to Sunday. We played hooky from church (heathens, I know) and went out to the pier for day 2 of more of the same. (Have I mentioned that the lake is my most favorite place to be in the whole world?! And I think H is now in agreement…)
My girl. Hard to get her to sit still to take a pic anymore these days.
The next series may be some of my favorite photos of H to date. She is huge on blowing kisses… and just on her own while I was taking these pics, she decided to blow us some. I can’t stand it. I love her so!
Before lunch, we went on H’s first boat ride of the year. She loved it, though she didn’t love the life jacket (but she’s required to wear one when on the boat on LKN until she’s 14 soooo she better get used to it!).
You would think that my husband would tell me that I had tons of hair going across my forehead before he took the following photos, but, of course he didn’t. ;) Oh well, I’ll take what I can get since I am usually the one behind the lens and not in front!
My two babies. :)
All the grandkids’ favorite thing to do is drive the boat. Natalie did a fine job. :)
Some of H’s favorite people on the planet are her Aunt Miki (always making her laugh) and cousin Natalie (seeing the two of them together is about the cutest thing in the world)!
Caleb’s turn to drive the boat. When did he become so grown?!
Next, H’s first time “driving” the boat with Pop. She took this responsibility very seriously. I love it.
Did I mention that Natalie is Hadley’s favorite person ever? I always hoped that H would have cousins near her age to play with… and even though Natalie is 4.5 years older than Hadley, they play together great! It is so cute to see H try to copy everything Natalie does. Also, Natalie is a great “babysitter”—she keeps H occupied for hours! I sure love these two girls… and some of these photos show just how much they love each other. :)
Later, it was hot tub time! Dad turns the temperature way down for the kids to “swim” in it, and H loved playing with Caleb, Nat and Daddy. The girl is pretty fearless in the water which makes me both happy and terrified at the same time.
Fast forward to day 3, Memorial Day monday. What did we do? More of the same. Pier, pool, boat, swinging, and hot tub.
Jon and I with our first born!
…and with H who refused to tear her eyes away from all the boats to look at the camera.
Snack time on the boat > snack time anywhere else.
Also, H took her first jet ski ride! She LOVED it, and just kept saying “weeeee! weeeee!” the entire time. Excuse the quality of the next few photos. Just another example of the fact that a “nice camera” doesn’t ensure great photos if the user has no idea what they are doing (sorry Dad, ha!).
Notice Ralph in the next few photos. He’s like “hey, where are you going and why are you taking Hadley and not me?!”. He is used to being the one who gets to ride with us!
We ended up the day with more hot tub time. Fun for everyone. :)
Whew. If you’re still reading, that’s all for now! I will be back soon with photos from the next day, our first trip to the NC Zoo with Hadley’s Mamaw and Aunt Heather. Once I go through all 400 of them… ;)
Until then…hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday!
