Anyone who has, or has had, a two year old in their household knows that it’s almost impossible to get a still, in-focus photo of them… at least if your kids are anywhere near as energetic as mine! ;) As a result, I have found that I have WAY more videos of H on my phone lately than photos. So, I have been meaning to do this post for a while to give just a little glimpse of what H has been up to since she turned 2 at the end of December. Some of these are funny, and some are of her doing some of her favorite things… I hope they are as entertaining to others as they are to me. Without further ado, here is 2 year old Hadley in iPhone videos. :)
Hadley got an easel for her birthday, and painting quickly became one of her favorite activities. This video was taken in early January, it was one of her first masterpieces. And yes, she tells Ralph to hush while I shot the video. ;)
Hadley started taking gymnastics classes the first week of January at Sonshine Gymnastics in Holly Springs, and she LOVES it. It amazes me how quickly she is learning the skills, even as the youngest in her class. The first month’s “homework” was to practice presenting, and her teachers taught her to say “ta-da” when she does it. Let’s just say she caught on very quickly and now I hear “ta-daaaaaa!” many, MANY times a day. ;) This video was taken at home when we were practicing her presenting skills.
Bath time is…
wild chaotic out of control fun at our house. H is a natural born fish and loves to “swim” in the tub each night. After Jon is finished washing her, she will say “move stuff” and clear out all of the toys to make room for her to swim, float, and spin in the tub. I guess it’s a good way to burn energy before she goes to bed?! This video was taken at the beginning of January, so her swimming and floating skills have actually gotten even better since this was taken. Should be a fun summer at the pool/lake with this little fish!
We had a random 70+ degree day back in mid-January, and H and I took full advantage of it and played outside all afternoon. I’m really just including this one because I could listen to that laugh ALL day. :)
It’s no secret that Jon and I, being alumni, are huge NC State fans. Naturally, we have brainwashed taught H some of the cheers we do at the football games. After the announcer says “that’s another wolfpack…” the fans in our section say “…first down! Move the chains, move the chains, wolf wolf wolf!”. This is H’s rendition of that cheer. Bless her heart, she’s in for a long, tough life as a wolfpack fan. ;)
This next video may be one of my favorite of all time. I am not sure where Hadley learned to say “huh?” but she did, and the way she says it and her timing always makes me laugh out loud. In this particular video, we told her she couldn’t have any Teddy Grahams unless she ate another bite of her dinner. HOW are we supposed to not laugh when she responds like this?! This kid…
Jennifer got Hadley a soccer goal for Christmas, and one day when she was here, we put it together in the house and Jennifer coached her a little bit on how to kick the ball into the goal. She learned very quickly and we were all very proud of her skills! :)
One night, we were on the way home from Sarah & Dan’s house and Macklemore’s song “Can’t Hold Us” came on the radio. H immediately loved it and put her hands up and danced when he said “so we put our hands up…”, and by the end of the song, she was singing along with it. I only wish I had started recording earlier! Since then, many times when we have gotten in the car, she has said “hear ceiling can’t hold us, Mommy!”. Guess there are worse songs for her to like… ;)
If you follow me on Instagram, you saw a clip of this video of H counting. She can count to 20 now pretty well, but sometimes she gets confused with all the “teens”, which I just happened to catch on video one day. I love it! (And yes, I realize she has the most country accent ever…no idea where she could have gotten that from, hehe!)
If I asked Jon which video out of these is his favorite, I am 99.9% sure he would say this one. Jennifer gave H this t-ball set for her birthday, and H has had a blast playing it on days when it has been warm enough to go outside (I don’t trust her with that bat inside the house, ha!). This particular day, I stood behind her and showed her how to stand, how to swing, etc., and then let her try by herself. She insisted on batting left-handed when I wasn’t helping her, so maybe we have a switch hitter on our hands?! When I sent the video to Jon, he said “she’s batting left-handed…scholarship!”. Seeing her hit the ball and follow instructions so well makes me think we may have a little athlete on our hands…luckily she has her Aunt Jennifer to coach (and Mama’s not too bad, either, if I do say so myself)! ;)
Hadley sings all the time. And I really mean ALL the time. I just happened to catch her singing her ABCs one day recently. I love “TUV” and how she gets mixed up with the words at the end. My little performer!
Hope you enjoyed a little glimpse into life with our crazy, fun, sweet girl. :) All for now—I’ll be back soon with more updates!
