See what I did there? Yep, I decided to just catch up all at once instead of trying to write separate posts since I clearly can’t keep up this time around!
The only real thing to report from the last three weeks is that (praise the LORD) I passed my glucose test! And not only did I pass, my level was actually kind of low… the nurse told me that the level had to be between 65-139, and mine was 67. Just for kicks, I had her check my chart to see what it was with H, and it was 141! I have no idea how that is even remotely possible
unless they switched my results with someone else’s, since I have been eating nothing but sweets this time around and barely touched them with H… but I’ll take it. So, SO glad to not have to do the 3-hour test this time!
Luckily, not a whole lot has changed pregnancy-wise since my 29 week update
except for the growth of my seemingly ginormous belly so I will jump straight into it! ;) I am 32 weeks, 2 days today.
Size of Baby A: Over the last 3 weeks, he has grown from the size of a cabbage, to the size of four navel oranges, to a large jicama. Um, what? Not sure who came up with that comparison, but here’s a pic to compare:
He is now about 16.75-17 inches long and weighs around 3.75-4 lbs!
Developments: His eyesight is continuing to develop, though it’s still not very keen. Also, his bone marrow has taken over production of red blood cells, which is important because it means he will be better able to thrive on his own once she is born. It is definitely comforting to know that if something were to happen and he were to come now or in the next couple weeks (pleeeeeaaaasseeee keep cooking for a while, though, Stephen!), he would be able to make it on his own.
He is gaining more weight as baby fat is filling in underneath the skin. His skin is also becoming less see-through and more pink. He can now turn his head from side to side, hiccup, swallow, breathe, and suck his thumb! He is really plumping up and will gain almost half his body weight by the time I deliver. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair.
Weight Gain So Far: Official doctor’s office scale count as of last Thursday: 18 lbs! So probably 18.5 or 19 by now (compared to 17.5 at this point with H). Officially into the 130s on the scale for the 2nd time in my life, yikes!
Cravings: Chocolate milk again, after not having it for a while. Also, pecan spinwheels. If y’all don’t know what those are, you are missing out. They remind me of my childhood and I
have been known to eat a whole box in one sitting love them. Also chocolate pudding! And still any kind of candy.
Symptoms: Heartburn, but I don’t think it is as bad as it was with Hadley. Peeing ALL the time. Just general aches and pains, and occasional sciatica. I tell Jon all the time that I just don’t remember being THIS uncomfortable this early with H, but he says i am just mis-remembering. I just feel like he is in my ribs all the time (which was confirmed yet again on the ultrasound last week when we saw his feet directly pushing against my lungs) and it makes it really hard to get comfortable in any position except lying down. Also on a good note, I don’t think I have mentioned it thus far, but (shockingly), my skin and hair have been MUCH better than they were with H. I have never had great skin, but it has been clearer during this pregnancy than it has for most of my life… and my hair is actually not shedding nearly as much as it usually does (though I currently need a haircut BAD)! Hooray for that!
Movement: One of my pregnancy apps says that my amniotic fluid has maxed out at this point—which means that I likely have more baby than fluid now. This explains why the jabs and kicks are feeling stronger than ever…there is less fluid to cushion the blows. However, at my ultrasound last Thursday, Dr. B said my fluid was “perfect”—still plenty there and no worries thus far about it being dangerously low like it got with H at the end of my pregnancy. Anyway, I am still feeling tons of (really hard, strong) movements, which can get pretty uncomfortable at times depending on what position I am in when they happen.
What I Miss: I think by this point, I am just used to going without the wine and certain foods that I have to avoid… so mostly everything I miss now has to do with physical abilities, ha! I miss being able to shave my legs comfortably… I can do it, but it’s not pleasant. ;) Also missing being able to carry H up/down the stairs without being winded. And being able to squeeze through tight spaces without getting the belly stuck! Hehe.
Things I am Thankful For: The next 2 months (for the most part) at HOME. We have so much to do to prepare for this baby and for moving H to her big girl room, so we definitely need to be here to paint and finish the other preparations.
What I’m Looking Forward To: Seeing little man on our 3D/4D ultrasound on January 18, family “sprinkle” on the same day, and sprinkle in Raleigh on February 1!
Bump Growth: Still growing at an exponential rate. I feel humongous this time, and I don’t really remember feeling like this until I was about to pop with H… which means it is likely going to be a loooong 7.5 weeks. ;)
Jon isn’t home yet to take my “official” standing in front of the fireplace pic, so I just took a quick selfie
since I actually got dressed and ready today to go to the mall. The pic on the left is from today, 32.5 weeks, and the right is from my pregnancy with H at exactly the same point. I guess 32 weeks is the week for selfies?
Next Doctor Appointment: January 16.
I’m off to make dinner, it’s stir fry night at the Aldridge household and I’m pretty excited about it. ;) Happy hump day!
