Hey, friends! I am WAY late on this week’s update, but I have been computerless for the last few days while my
ancient, worthless laptop has been in the capable hands of the Apple Store being fixed, and a new CD drive is being installed, too! Lucky me! Not. I guess I can’t complain, I think the computer is over 4 years old now and this is the first problem i’ve ever had with it. Anyway. Being without my laptop has been both crappy (I can’t edit) and liberating (so much extra time!). I digress.
I am 21 weeks, 5 days today. Time’s still flying. No big changes this week, so I’ll jump to the update.
Size of Baby A/Developments: A banana. He is beginning to swallow amniotic fluid and absorb small amounts of sugar. I have read that the taste of the amniotic fluid varies from day to day depending on what I have eaten. He has very developed taste buds already and is tasting the different foods I am eating! In fact, researchers have found that babies who were exposed to certain tastes in utero via the amniotic fluid were more eager to eat foods with that same taste after birth. Seems like baby boy will have a MAJOR sweet tooth since ALL I want is candy!
Weight Gain So Far: 7.5ish-8ish lbs, but that’s just a guess. I’ve killed a BUNCH of candy this week along with some delicious fair food, so I think the weight gain was more than usual. ;)
Cravings: Candy. Any kind except for chocolate, but I will eat that if I’m in a pinch. ;)
Symptoms: Still feeling great. I have to admit that I may have overdone it this week (2 Halloween parties, a birthday party, a LOT of hours in the car, a trip to the fair, cleaned the whole house, cooked several meals to freeze, ran a million errands…all while taking care of a sick hubby and kid), and I have been EXHAUSTED from it all. The plus side of that is, when I (finally…around 1 a.m.) go to bed, I have been sleeping great (without melatonin!). Still uncomfortable and getting up to pee a lot, but at least I have been falling asleep easily.
Movement: Still increasing every day, especially in the last few days. He is becoming more active during the day than he was before, but still does most of his acrobatics at night. Jon finally felt him moving/kicking this week— a lot of times. :) It’s cute to see him get excited all over again and say “I felt that!”.
What I Miss: Being able to wear anything in my closet. ;) My pants I’m still good on, but my regular (non-maternity) shirts are getting shorter and shorter each time I try them on…..
Things I am Thankful For: Jon. He stepped in and helped me out several times this week when I was on the verge of losing my mind due to all the craziness going on. I don’t know what I would do without him.
Signs of a Bump: Some friends at MOPS this morning told me they were happy that they could finally tell I’m starting to show. :) I am happy, too!
And, a bare belly comparison of this time and last time (current photo on left, pregnancy with H on right):
I would say I have definitely caught up (and surpassed?) with my size from the last go ‘round. And he’s definitely carrying very differently, lower, I think (perhaps that’s why I feel like I ALWAYS have to pee…). I just think it’s fun to compare since just about everything has been completely opposite with the two pregnancies!
Next Doctor Appointment: November 14
Welp, I’m all caught up on baby boy, but I still owe H’s 22 month (!) update. Hopefully I’ll get to that at some point this weekend….but we’ll see. No promises. ;) Now, I have to go rest up for a newborn session with a friend’s sweet baby girl in the morning!
